Denial

Neil is smiling and pretending that everything is alright, even though he has just been informed that he is CAVE FORCE's latest target. Neil keeps telling himself that it won't happen to him, that CAVE FORCE is simply bluffing. It is Neil's ignorance of CAVE FORCE determination that allows him to think "happy thoughts" at this time. (Also, the use of hallucinogenic drugs helps.)
